Eat your heart out! Here are a few of the “realist” juice bars and restaurants that I enjoy. Check out some unique and insanely delicious food in your town or while traveling in any of these cities. Have a suggestion on an organic, health-conscious eatery near you?
San Francisco, California
Gracias Madre: Ever had a craving for Mexican but knew it might cost you your evening in the bathroom? Well, shed those worries because Gracias Madre offers insanely delicious Mexican food without any unwanted activities. This chic multicultural restaurant is 100% organic, using ingredients from local farmers. Gracias Madre owners emphasize the importance of purchasing locally grown products in order to help raise consciousness among the San Francisco community and beyond. Their mission is noble, their food made with passion, and the staff could not be friendlier. Try the
nopales—I promise you won’t want to go just once.

Green Bar & Kitchen: With an earthy, yet modern atmosphere, Green Bar & Kitchen is 100% organic and vegan. The coconut grain bowl is out of this world and especially easy to imitate at home. Be sure to skip the lunchtime rush, as this special place gets packed. You can also enjoy the lovely patio seating.

Glaser’s Organic Farm: Located in the heart of Coconut Grove, this market has it all. From organic raw ice cream to every kind of exotic fruit you can imagine, Glaser’s Organic Farm sets up every Saturday and attracts local food vendors and retailers turning the area into a mini marketplace of organic living. The sheer variety of produce, herbs, oils, and grains can be a little overwhelming for any newcomer so take your time, browse around and try a different item each time you go. If you’re a kitchen pro, this market will be a food paradise for you. Trying a raw diet for the first time? This is your place to start with their selection of raw pre-made sandwiches, salads, and “burgers”. Not to mention their 100% raw and organic desserts are out-of-this-world. They have a real talent for turning raw living into a scrumptious eating experience.

Josh’s Organic Market and Juice Bar: Get ready to not only find amazing in-season fruits and veggies but also have an incredible resource at your fingertips as you shop. Josh clearly has a passion for his produce and provides a little entertainment as you browse. Need help deciding? Red Delicious or Granny Smith? Broccoli or Broccolini? Josh is at your disposal. He’ll shout out the latest and greatest of a particular fruit or veggie. You quickly begin to realize you never viewed his item of choice in such a poetic and artistic way. Josh’s wealth of produce knowledge is unmatched and definitely worth the weekly trip. When cutting his sprouts he pays close attention to the energy he transfers during the process so not only will you eat live enzyme-rich food, you can rest assured that from ground to plate, the sprouts have been treated with respect and love (which you, also, will ultimately digest). Stop by the juice bar and get fresh organic juices while you shop.

JugoFresh: Each new juice I discover is better than the last, and not to mention, the bar has the coolest design I’ve seen. From hard-core juice cleanses to protein-packed fruit smoothies, Jugofresh has something to suit even your most skeptical friend. All juices are cold-pressed and organic. And as if their juice menu could not get any better, now they have a few food items. Try the
açaí bowl. It’s packed with nuts, coconuts, and, of course, fresh
açaí.

Raw Feeding Miami: This is your go-to place to get the highest quality in meat. Why meat when you may be on a plant based Modern Monk diet? Well simply put, your four legged friends are not plant eaters and must be fed a species-appropriate diet, which consists of raw meat. As their tagline states, “feeding your pet the way nature intended” is ideal to keep their lives long and healthy. Still can’t give up meat? Get your meat from here and nowhere else. Seriously, this should be your only supplier. It’s as if the animal went right off the farm in the most humane way and onto your plate. Carla, owner of Raw Feeding Miami, is well connected among the meat producing farms across the country. Most importantly with local farms where animals are truly free-range, left to live their full life span, organic and fed well. So, if flesh is your guilty pleasure you just can’t live without, make sure to eat it right and only the best. You can be guaranteed you’ll get the highest quality here.
18350 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33179

The Vegetarian Restaurant: Another great veg place operated by Rastafarians who add their Caribbean flavors to classic vegetarian dishes. “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” the restaurant is sandwiched between two shops in a beaten-up shopping strip. But don’t let that deter you away. They have a flair for vegan Jamaican patties stuffed with spinach or curry seitan.

Ayesha’s Kitchen – A Spectacular Cooking ClassThis is probably one of the best cooking classes on the planet! Bold statement? Absolutely! Although I obviously have not tried every cooking class on the planet, I have participated in many. Ayesha’s one-of-kind Indian cooking classes not only offer fantastic new healthy dishes to add to your repertoire, but also a memorable experience that will keep you wanting more. She will teach you how to whip up the often times difficult dishes of India, with ease and fun. From Indian Breads to Vegan Cuisine, you’re sure to find something you’ll love from her 15 different classes. After salivating while she instructs (and entertains), you’ll get to lunch on the entire menu with your newly bonded classmates. Classes are small and fill up quick so plan ahead.
