Skin…the largest organ on the body and the only thing you’ll ever wear that exposes your health, beauty, and age. So why not treat it with the utmost respect and make it as much of a priority as those weekend cocktails or that Chanel bag?
Great beauty products are a dime a dozen. You find what works for you, you see a difference, then oftentimes you’ll find your not-so-wanted skincare habits creeping back; the results showing up in the most visible of places.
Cue in the inner beauty regimen. Great skin begins within, and becomes polished with the right skin care routine, great products, and a dash of DNA (just a dash of course). But every poor decision you make, including drinking sugary beverages, eating junky food, or maintaining bad sleep habits tells your body you don’t give a flying you-know-what about it. The body will react, oftentimes with flaws showing up where we least want them to appear; on our skin.
Ever see a 40-something-year-old with incredible skin? It’s unlikely, but if you do–she will tell you that hydration, proper sleep, and good food all contribute to her glow. As cliché as it may sound, you are what you eat. It’s quite simple; eat food that most closely resembles the way Nature intended it, and your skin will be as close as possible to the way Nature intended it to be, too.
The Plan…
Study after study will prove that a body thrives on a healthy diet. The challenge is that what most consider healthy is not actually healthy. Sure, saying “I don’t eat at Mc’Donalds or KFC” is taking a step in the right direction, but I’m talking about going much deeper than that… I’m talking about juicing and not just blending some fruit together. I’m talking broccoli, cucumber, kale, celery…now there’s a revolution for your skin.
Drinking your veggies is the first step in balancing your body, and bringing it back to a healthy state. The good news is….your skin will be the first to show the effects. Every 28 days your skin replaces itself. Your body regenerates and grows new cells from the foods you eat; and while bad habits will be first to show on your skin, so will the good habits.
Here are a few great skin foods to start juicing:
Aloe vera
Cucumber
Celery
Avocado
Sweet potatoes (yes, you can juice or blend raw sweet potatoes)
Carrots
Lemon
Kale
The Basics of Juicing:
Juicing your veggies allows for your body to absorb the most minerals, enzymes, and vitamins without putting your digestion through the wringer to break down the food on its own.
I would start by purchasing cold pressed, organic juices at your local health food store before making a juicer investment (look for ones with the above ingredients). Yes, the price tag can be steep, but it’s all in the name of beauty, right? Once you feel comfortable drinking the store-bought juices and are ready to take it a step further, begin by doing some research on juicers to start your own at-home morning juice plan.
Start Strong, Continue Strong
Once you kick-start your new lifestyle with juicing, it’s important to complement this new habit with a proper night’s sleep and by drinking lots of water throughout the day.
Finding the right skin care line will also keep your skin going strong but the best skin beauty begins within. So be sure to always start with lifestyle changes.
Happy Juicing,
Victoria
