Content, content, content. It is key when forming and maintaining a relationship with your customers and co-workers. We are in an era of communication thanks to the World Wide Web. Just as its name suggests, we are living in an on-going web of inter-connectedness, so your information must speak to your audience and move them in ways they have never been moved before in order to capture their attention. Here are five simple and effective ways to make your content move through readers.
- Meditate. Yes, believe it or not, meditating or silencing your mind is when insight and creativity flourishes. Try it and be consistent. It may take some continuous practice, but I promise it will pay off big time. You will witness new and exciting words spill onto your pages.
- Write the end first. Begin your text by writing your conclusion first or perhaps stating what you want readers to walk away with. This will help to keep you on track and ensure your readers are interpreting exactly what your message is.
- Tell a story. Stories and metaphors are how we humans grasp concepts and learn. It is critical that you offer an intro, climax, and conclusion. Hook them from the “get-go” with phenomenal story telling. Need inspiration? Pick up a juicy novel or a suspenseful tale, read a few chapters and get inspired as the author draws you in.
- Be funny. Don’t be afraid to be silly or vulnerable for bringing out your comedic side. Readers will enjoy your candidness and at best, get a nice laugh, which we all appreciate.
- Keep a notebook and pen handy. Keep a topics list as some of your greatest ideas happen when you least expect them. It is ideal to keep an old-fashioned pen and paper rather than rely on your tablet or phone. Technology can distract you from transporting your ideas from your head to physical text. It would be a shame if you were engaged in a brilliant messaging flow and all of a sudden your mother begins to call or a text comes in.
We are all born to create! One of the simplest and most frequent ways we create is through our creativity and self-expression. Whether you need to persuade, inform or entertain, communication is a reflection of how your creative engine is working and will impact how others perceive you.
Sending Cosmic Love,
Victoria
Last minute tip: Keep it short. No one ever not read something because it was too short.
